Hire Me

I will always make music, because it’s my favorite thing to do. Throughout my journey I’ve picked up a lot of skills that may be useful to you. The following is an outline of the work I’m good at AND enjoy. So long as I can pay my bills, learning and creating is all I really care about.

Please contact me via alex@alex-haase.com if you are interested in any of the following:

Music Producer:

If you have a song or album inside you that needs to get out, I can help. Being the bridge from someone’s imagination to the speakers is a sacred and fulfilling role for me.

I can help you create music from scratch with my own techniques, or I can coordinate and organize the musicians and engineers you want to work with, filling in where needed.

Even if your budget is zero, please reach out. I’m always happy to advise your next steps, and I may know someone who would love to collaborate with you. A rising tide raises all boats!

Assistant Music Producer:

Many artists these days prefer making tracks from start to finish all by themselves (guilty as charged). But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still parts of the process they’d rather not be bothered with. I have no shortage of painful mistakes and hard earned knowledge under my belt when it comes to properly managing project files.

With me as your assistant producer, you can focus on the creativity. I’ll follow closely behind and make sure every version of your project is saved with a corresponding render.

“Oh wait, song_bounce_4_final_2_actually_final(1)(1) was my favorite, but 31 versions later, I don’t have the project file anymore. Now that I can’t go back to fix that weird way I delivered that one line, I’ll just try in vain to recreate it for a couple weeks, hate every new version, and never end up releasing any of them.”

Has that ever been you…?

Seemingly minimal projects that somehow take up 80 gigabytes, the inability to recover a project because a VST is no longer supported, messages saying “media files can’t be located”…

I can make it all a thing of the past. I will create a workflow that lets you focus on the artistry, and leaves the rest to me. All of your work will be saved redundantly, efficiently, securely, and accessibly. I can also act as a go-between with your collaborators, ensuring everyone can access what they need and helping collaborators troubleshoot when they face technical obstacles.

I can comp your takes, name your tracks, and bounce audio for all the stems, dry and wet, so that you have peace of mind that you can go back to any point and start from there, even if one day you lose access to the tools you used to make it.

Long story short, you make a mess, I’ll clean it up. This is an especially fun role for me because I get to learn from you as a producer.

Touring Producer:

Inspiration strikes in unexpected places. I can turn any space, indoors or outdoors, into a workable music studio at a moment’s notice. I’m used to touring life, and I can serve other technical roles within concert video or audio as needed, if for no other purpose than ensuring crew redundancy. I’m very reliable and a fast learner. But most importantly, I can make sure you’re never without the tools you need to make your music, no matter where we are.

Performance Engineer:

I’m always a little infuriated by how slowly contemporary performances are catching up to contemporary music production. Modern, avant-garde sound design, intricate resampling, and sequenced arrangement are totally compatible with improvisation, and improvisation is totally compatible with automatically synced visuals.

Why this type of performance is still so rare baffles me. If you feel the same way, but need technical support / guidance, I’m certain I can help.

Beat Maker:

The bread an butter of today’s popular music: recording over beats. For all my other fixations, I’ll always be excited to boot up my software, make the best damn instrumental I can, and ship it to your inbox. If I’m not cut out for the genre you’re shooting for, I guarantee I’ll know someone who is.

Mixing Engineer:

I’ve got a good grasp on the fundamentals: I know how to identify and solve glaring problems scientifically. The rest is just taste. I’m always happy to provide side-by-side comparisons. If it’s your music, then it’s your call, always. I’m just there to help you get the song you want.

I’m particualrly well suited to add a little extra psychedelic sparkle to a track. I use effect chains that mimic — or intentianally deviate from — the natural acoustics of space and movement. If you have a track that’s still just missing something, and you aren’t sure what it is, let me take a crack at it. I’m often open to mixing a song for free, just to show what I can do.

And while I won’t call myself a mastering engineer you can bet your ass I’m gonna try to prove you don’t need one by seeing if I can get you to pick my master over someone else’s in a blind test… Afterall, it’s not like digital mastering relies on different fundamental principles than digital sound design or mixing. But don’t tell your mastering engineer I said that… Besides, it’s true that a second pair of ears is always helpful.

As always, you can get in touch with me via alex@alex-haase.com. I hope to hear from you!
